Wellness Policy

Wellness Policy The District's local wellness policy, which was established after Congress passed a law that requires school districts to establish a local wellness policy that applies to every school in the district. The policy assists schools in improving the overall health of students by promoting healthy eating. (CVESD BP 5030) Our NEW policy states that NO celebratory food items will be allowed on school sites during the school day in celebration of student's birthday (i.e. no cup-cakes, sugary juices, soda, pizza, chips, ice-cream, pop-corn, etc.).

We recognize that celebrating your child's birthday is a joyous event, one that you may continue to celebrate here at school. However, only non-food items will be allowed at school:

  • Non-food suggestions: coloring books, crayons, jump ropes, mini-Frisbees, balls, books, school supplies, stickers, pencils, erasers, white board markers, etc.

Any food items brought to school for celebrations will be sent back home with your child at the end of the day.

We appreciate your support and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or the school office. As with past years, all celebrations must be approved by your child's teacher prior to the day of the celebration. All celebrations will take place at the end of the day before dismissal.
